Pre-Purchase Education
This “Movin’ On Up” Pre-purchase education is a fantastic opportunity to equip yourself with knowledge and skills necessary to begin the home purchase process. We cover various aspects of homeownership such as understanding steps involved in buying a home, exploring different types of mortgages and loan options, and learning about the importance of credit scores and financial readiness. Additionally, we will review the closing process and documents, as well as obligations for the homeowner after purchase. This course provides invaluable resources that empower you to make informed decisions and feel confident throughout the home buying journey. Participants will prepare for the possibility of homeownership through this 1-to-2-hour course. They will learn how to recognize when they are ready for homeownership, the advantages, and disadvantages of owning a home, understanding lender’s guidelines, how to navigate the home search process, be ready for the up-front and on-going costs of homeownership, know how much home is afforded, how to negotiate with lenders and other home purchase professionals, and be familiar with the loan and closing process.

Post (Pre-Discharge) Bankruptcy Education
An individual who has filed for bankruptcy protection will complete a 2-hour financial education course. This course includes: “Rebuilding Following Bankruptcy,” “Wants Versus Needs,” “Developing Sound Financial Habits,” “Establishing a Budget,” “Developing a New Plan for the Budget,” “Understanding and Using Credit,” “Credit Reports and Scores,” “Rebuilding Your Credit,” “Protect Yourself from Predatory Lending and Identity Theft,” and “Understanding Insurance.” A certificate is issued to all parties when the session is completed. There is a $50 fee for each person taking this course.

First-Time Homebuyer Course
This 4-hour course covers the following important aspects of preparing for homeownership including “Managing Money,” “Understanding Credit,” “Home Inspections,” “Closing Documents,” “Maintaining Your Home,” and “Protecting You and Your Investments.” A certificate of completion is provided to all those who complete this extensive class.

Credit Education
Settle the Score: Taking Control of Your Credit is a 1–2-hour class that takes an in-depth look at establishing and using credit, dealing with credit problems, and understanding credit reports and credit scores. This course is designed to help consumers understand the credit system and how to improve your creditworthiness.




Budget Class
A 2-hour interactive budgeting course covering, avoiding self-defeating attitudes, setting financial goals, calculating net worth, completing a step-by-step budget, tracking expenses, saving for periodic expenses, saving for emergencies, as well as ideas for increasing income, and reducing expenses. At the end of each course, participants will make a pledge to themselves to pay closer attention to their financial goals and financial surroundings. A completion certificate is awarded.

Renter’s Education
CCCS’ rental education provides consumers with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the rental process successfully. The rental education covers important topics such as understanding rental agreements, knowing tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, as well as learning how to communicate effectively with landlords and property managers. Additionally, our rental education includes information on budgeting and maintaining rental property. This course can benefit established tenants as well as someone looking into the rental process.
